This epic customer quilt was both a challenge and thrill to complete. Custom stitching throughout with heavy background stipple, feathers, leaves, and wreaths.
Fun and Funky! These crisp apples have spunk. Each individual block has a different stitched background and modern stitching in the sashing and borders.
The very hungry caterpillar shows amazing transformation! Custom quilting throughout this wall hanging was a joy to stich... and yes I hid a fairy in the stitching.
Trout, lures, and water all surrounded by wood grain.
Lush edge to edge Hibiscus flowers adorn this Hawaiian Beauty.
Enchanted elegance are the words that come to mind with this inheritance quilt. Custom quilted Roses in full bloom surrounded with a scalloped border.
Edge to edge paisley and a whole lot of love!
Simple edge to edge geometric quilting to set off the dimensional design.
This classic civil war style quilt has a simple petal motif, rope in the sashing and traditional quarter inch stitching.
Kick off your boots and stay a while! This super fun customer quilt has cowgirls, bucking broncos, hats, and of course boots, all fenced in with barbed wire.
This Inheritance Quilt a Red and White Drunkard's Path Quilt top was found in a trunk... The fabric was in excellent condition, my customer loved feathers, so we went a little non-traditional in the white centers with the swirling feathers and kept the red in the traditional quarter inch outlining.
Edge-to-edge spider webs... don't get stuck.
Simple and classic quilting for this American quilt.
This customer quilt is Patriotic with a modern twist.
I made this quilt for my Grandma! There is another version of this pattern further down in this gallery page. Large meander quilting with some fun details in the piecework, There is a Z-plank front door and vines growing up the brickwork.
A customer quilt to celebrate a 50th anniversary! Taking inspiration directly from the fabric three flower motifs repeat throughout the quilt, pumpkin seeds in the small diamonds and two types of feathers down the side borders.
This beautiful Inheritance quilt was completed with the customers son in mind. She requested a nature theme and oak leaves and acorns asked to be sewn on the quilt. A simple feathered border and accent in the dark brown frames the leaves nicely.
This charming Inheritance quilt was embroidered by my customers father when he was a boy. Originally a tied quilt, I outlined all the animals and did a floral accent to the top and bottom with the scalloped edge. I did the crosshatch throughout to put stability in the fabric and let the animals do the rest!
(The Moose is my favorite...)
(The Moose is my favorite...)
I had the infinite honor of quilting this "Dear Jane." This customer quilt took four years to piece and over 60 hours to quilt! This non-traditional "Dear Jane" is full if butterflies, flowers, leaves, and whimsy. Each block contains custom stitching with variegated blue and sandstone thread. The border is lined with butterfies....but I snuck in a fairy...
This Customer quilt is a "Silly Goose" Pattern. There are gaggles of geese in the corners, and marbles spilling from the top of the piecework filling down the column. I have another "Silly Goose" Further down in the galleries same pattern two completely different quilting!
This custom one-of-a-kind commissioned work is a priest's stole. She has a deep love for animals and wanted a lamb with the "Agnus Dei" symbolism and to balance it on the other side, Aslan. I used raw-edge applique and heavy thread painting.
This is a custom one-of-a-kind commissioned work. I created this Lenten stole for an individual who felt strong ties to nature, the symbolism of the wine and the bread of communion, and Celtic imagery. I did raw edge applique with heavy thread painting.
Winter warmth within this quilt. Semi-custom work with the all-over stitching changing as the fabric changes. I outlined the applique snowflakes. You can also see I applied the binding so the customer could complete the hand-stitching on the back.
A charming quilt for Christmas! For this customer quilt I did a semi-custom combo, the focus blocks have a small meander and the piecework around the focus blocks have an all-over design with bells, holly, and music notes.
This Inheritance quilt is a nature quilt. A view of the sky up through the pines, pinecones, and a river with rocks and rapids flowing around the whole border.
The Large picture on this Inheritance Quilt does not do it justice. There is veining in the large maple leaf blocks with a small spiral backfill. The borders have leaves twirling in the wind. I have the joy of completing several of this particular quilters creations and she did wonderful work. She also did the quilt above. (Those are hand pieced blocks by the way...)
This delightful customer quilt is The "Peace Cottage" pattern Designed by Lynn Lister From McCall's Quilting Magazine, 2014. Stars, flying geese, a forest, a meadow and a cozy cottage. I did a simple meander in the background, changing the pattern in the meadow(log cabin blocks) to contain tufts of grass. Note the wood slats in the cottage door.
Pin wheels in the wind, but only one is really twirling... See if you can find it. This customer quilt is for a baby that has" Luna" or "moon" in its name, so I put little moons the pinwheel blades.
Big flowers with big leaves, It is hard to see in these photos but the Center of each flower, in this customer quilts, is determined by where the bright green squares are. The background had wavy diagonal lines to off-set the horizontal nature of the piecing.
It is VERY rare that a customer asks, "Could you do Spider webs and dead bugs?"..... This was one of those times and it was soooo much fun to do! Many bugs met their downfall on these webs. Can you find the spider?
This customer quilt was paper pieced and had a lot of pieces. I did ditch work in all the blocks and triangles in the border. Then in the background fabric did a scroll/fern motif reaching into the piecing from the edges and repeated the theme around the center most block to give a medallion effect.
"Silly Goose" is the name of this Customer quilt pattern. She left me with lots of space to dance. The customer said that, "Silly geese need feathers"... So that's what I did. The Feathers stretch from the top left of the quilt down diagonally to the bottom right in a variegated thread while background is in orange to give added depth.
This is a "Funky Christmas" quilt, and is a great example of a blend of custom and all-over quilting. The Holly in the corners on the applique are piece specific while the center is a blend of ornaments, Christmas trees holly and ivy in a all-over design.
Friends made these teapots. This customer quilt was from a block exchange. I ditch-stitched around every teapot and around the Vine/floral border with traditional applique echo. Then added a pho lattice around the diamonds... I was going for a polish pottery kind of feel.
This is an Inheritance quilt I had the honor of finishing. The customer's mother left completed blocks of "Cathedral Windows" I assembled the blocks, quilted and bound it, as well as made three throw pillows from additional blocks. This Customer plans on leaving this quilt to their Granddaughter.
This is a classic "Drunkards Path" in white and blue. The customer was very drawn to Art-deco Design so we decided the mix of Geometric in the blue and piled spirals in the white added excellent contrast. Take a look at the corner detail on the border, there is a hint of swallowtail butterflies... I loved the challenge of this quilt!
I quilted this stained glass scrappy quilt with an all-over spiral pattern. There is a variegated rainbow thread to compliment the jewel tones of the whole quilt.
This Harvest Sampler is a customer quilt that spoke of the bounty of the earth. There are 20 individual blocks and all have custom stitching with wheat motif to tie it together in the center medallion and corners. See if you can find the bumble bee....
This was sweet customer quilt. She wanted simple stitching around the cross-stitch with out taking attention away from it. A simple echo finishes it nicely.
This customer quilt is a block of the month pattern by Jinny Beyer and gorgeous at that! I designed the border, sashing and corner motifs to compliment the border fabric. Each flower block has individual custom stitching. I backfilled with a swirl pattern in black to add texture and stability.
My best friend did this quilt! It is full of love, life, playfulness and joy, so I put that in the quilting.
This Customer quilt was inspired by a trip to Australia. The turtles are an Aboriginal Batik, I thought of sand, heat, and sun, the depth of the piecework was an excellent framework to add depth and the turtles inspired the pebbles.
This is a true Americana quilt! Stars and stripes waving from sea to shining sea.
The jewel tones in this scrappy stained glass quilt called for elegant spirals and peacock feathers.
I had the amazing honor to finish this Inheritance Quilt it's a "Jacob's Ladder" quilt for a friend whose mom passed away before being able to finish it. She asked for leaves, vines, swirls, and moons. Moons for her mom, vines and swirls for her.
This yellow brick road top was completed by a customer for her daughter. Her daughter referred to it as the "Geramium" quilt and that inspired the leaves and flower pattern. I Also did some fun corners with the flower motif and leaves.
This top was completed for a customer's granddaughter. I loved the little characters in the panel and echoed those shapes in the border.
I made this quilt for my five year old nephew. He is an avid public transportation enthusiast and has the Boston-T memorized...SO I made the map. I quilted a retro-allover geometric design on the land areas, and simple waves for the harbor and rivers. Can you find the house?
This customer wall-hanging was a lot of fun with the trees and the cardinals.
This is a quilt I made for a girl who needed one. She is 11 and I wanted her to have something she could grow into I call this style Fun yet Sophisticated.
